Free credit report

Know what lenders can see.

Your credit report brings every account, balance and payment record into one place. We help you get it and go through it with you, in plain language.

Asking for your own report is a consumer enquiry, not a credit application, so it does not affect your score. Only a formal application for credit creates an enquiry that other lenders weigh up.

What happens next?

1. Send your request

Share basic contact details and give clear, specific consent.

2. We review it with you

We do not sell or broadcast your details to a panel of lenders.

3. Get help understanding it

Your report is information, not a promise of credit approval.

Understanding your credit score.

Credit-score ranges can differ between credit bureaux and scoring models. There isn't one universal South African score that guarantees whether you'll be approved for credit.

Generally, a stronger credit profile can improve your chances, but lenders also consider your income, affordability, existing debt, payment history and their own lending criteria.

That's why we look at your full credit report rather than relying on one number.

A score is a summary, not a verdict. Two people with the same number can get very different answers depending on income, affordability and what the report actually shows.

Consolidation Relief is not a lender or debt counsellor. We work with registered credit providers and debt counsellors where a regulated service is required.

What is actually inside the report.

These four parts of the report explain almost every lending decision you will receive.

Your 24 month payment profile

Month by month, whether each account was paid on time, paid late or fell into arrears. This carries the most weight.

Accounts and balances

Credit cards, store accounts, personal loans, overdrafts and vehicle finance, with limits and how much of each you are using.

Enquiries

Checks made on your profile. Your own request is a consumer enquiry. Enquiries made when you apply for credit are visible to other lenders.

Public records and status

Defaults, judgments, administration orders and whether a debt counselling status is recorded against your profile.

Why check before you consolidate.

Your report decides which route is realistic, so it is worth reading before you apply for anything.

Good to excellent

You have room to negotiate

A clean payment profile gives you real bargaining power on the interest rate of a consolidation loan. Compare the total repayable over the full term before accepting anything.

Look at consolidation

Fair to very poor

A new loan may not be the answer

If lenders decline you, or only offer the maximum permitted rate, restructuring through a registered debt counsellor often gives a lower payment and legal protection instead.

Compare the two routes

This does not affect your credit score

Asking for your own report is not a credit application. If you later choose to apply for credit, the provider may perform a formal credit enquiry as part of its assessment. If something on your report looks wrong, you have the right to dispute it with the bureau, and this guide explains how.
